Foot and Face Reflexology
Foot and Face Reflexology
Reflexology is a well-established, non-invasive holistic therapy. By stimulating points on the feet (and hands and face) which correspond with points in the rest of the body, reflexology can release imbalances and assist the body's natural healing properties.
Reduces stress levels: Stress and nervous tension are at the root of so many disorders. Modern life is busy and tiring - reflexology helps to manage this.
Re-energises: Reflexology re-energises the body by opening up the energy pathways.
Balances the whole system: Reflexology helps to bring all the body systems into equilibrium by balancing out areas of under and over activity.
Improves Nerve function: Neural pathways carry messages to every part of the body. There are over 7,000 nerve endings in the feet and stimulation of the sensory nerve endings sends information to the spinal cord and brain, which then send instructions to organs and muscles.
Improves circulation: Stress and tension can restrict the blood flow and circulation becomes sluggish causing things like high and low blood pressure. Reflexology helps to improve circulation of blood in the body.
Cleanses the body of toxins and impurities: A sluggish lymphatic system can cause toxins and waste matter to build up in the body. The relaxation created by reflexology will aid the body to eliminate toxins.
Aids pain control: Reflexology encourages the release of endorphins from the pituitary gland which can help in pain management.
Boosts the Immune System: When our energy levels are low we become more open to infections, coughs and colds. The immune system is made up of a network of cells, tissues and organs that work together to protect the body. During a Reflexology treatment all of these organs and systems are stimulated by pressure to connected points on the feet, to help boost circulation and help them work optimally, thereby increasing their ability to protect the body better.
Supports healthy pregnancy: It is recommended that reflexology be avoided during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy while the body is adjusting to hormonal changes. After this time expectant mothers can find Reflexology extremely helpful with symptoms associated with pregnancy. (Morning sickness, loss of bladder control, backache, anxiety, insomnia, digestive problems, water retention and cramps).
As a reflexologist, I treat each person holistically. Reflexology does not diagnose and should not be used in place of conventional medical treatment but can be very effective when used alongside it.
